Osteopathy is a hands-on system of health care that provides relief from muscle and joint problems, and sports injuries. Osteopathy can have benefits for your general well-being beyond your current symptoms. Some conditions not thought of as muscle or joint-related respond well to Osteopathic treatment. These include colic in babies, anxiety, fatigue, asthma, and headaches. Osteopathy is safe for the treatment of all age groups, from newly born to the very elderly.
Osteopathic treatment involves an initial consultation where the Osteopath takes a detailed medical history from you. You are then examined in order to establish the cause of your symptoms.
The treatment can involve joint manipulation, massage-type work, and ultrasound. You may also be prescribed exercises to support your treatment. Other methods include gentle cranial osteopathy which is especially suitable when treating babies and young children and can bring about positive changes in the well-being of a child.
The Osteopaths at The Riverside Clinic are Emma Mersseman and Victor Henighan, who is also recognised by BUPA.
